Previous Political Affiliations:
- BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party): Served as the IT Wing Head of BJP Tamil Nadu.
- AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam): After resigning from the BJP in March 2023, he joined the AIADMK, where he was appointed as the Joint Secretary of the IT Wing.
Transitions Between Parties:
- Resignation from BJP: In March 2023, CTR Nirmal Kumar resigned from the BJP, citing disagreements with the state leadership.
- Joining AIADMK: Following his resignation from the BJP, he joined the AIADMK in the presence of its interim General Secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
- Transition to TVK: In January 2025, he joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by Thalapathy Vijay, and was appointed as the Deputy General Secretary for Information Technology and Social Media.

The TVK Information Technology and Social Media Division, under the leadership of CTR Nirmal Kumar, focuses on integrating technology with political strategy, ensuring effective communication, and enhancing party organization across all districts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing digital platforms, including websites and social media management
- Providing technical support for party operations and election campaigns
- Training and developing district-level IT and social media teams
